"Designing Resilience - Women Architects Thriving"
Julie Foley, Architect
As a lifelong resident of Michigan, Julie Foley has been in the architecture industry since starting college and taking her first step onto a construction site in 2003. She earned a five-year Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2009. Continuing with her education, Julie earned a Construction Documents Technology (CDT) certification from CSI in 2020 and became a Registered Architect in 2022. She’s currently registered in three states and looking forward to adding more states and certifications to her accomplishments. She is an active member and volunteers for a variety of professional organizations including CSI’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force, Academic Programs Committee, Awards Committee; authors tests questions for CSI exams; is a co-founder of Emerge AEC; and co-chair of her daughter’s school’s Shared Involvement Process (SIP) program. In addition to her extracurricular activities, she has a full-time job as a PM/PA/Spec Writer at Summit Design and Engineering Services and a part time position as enrollment support with Amber Book. None of this matters without the love and support of her husband, daughter, their two dogs, and an ever-changing number of fish in the aquarium.
