Tips for Designing Agile Commercial Interior Spaces

in a World of Fixed Assets

Today’s office environment requires more agility and adaptability than in any previous decade. The list of changes occurring are constantly evolving, but they all require being free and untethered from the building. This course will examine how a designer accounts for the technological needs of power/data for these areas when the fixed assets, of the older building and power infrastructure, were built to handle a historically attached world. The new technological requirements will be measured, and a variety of solutions will be examined to assist designers with these modern challenges.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the limitations of current infrastructure and how it impacts design.
  • Describe available power and data solutions that can work within a fixed building structure.
  • Evaluate solutions based on non-disruption of current infrastructure.
  • Determine how to provide power and data for both individualism and collaboration in the same space.

ADVANCED FLORIDA BUILDING CODE WEBINAR

The course provides a detailed overview of what and how an architect should understand design considerations when taking on a renovation, remodel, addition, relocation, or change of occupancy to any building or historic building. The course will instruct the attendee on the proper use of the prescriptive, performance or work area compliance methods and the required level of the alterations to the building.
