Advanced FBC-2010 Florida Building Code Changes to the Windload Provisions of ASCE7-10

Since the first editions of the FBC (2001), the ASCE 7 has been the primary reference for the design of buildings for wind loads.  The 2010 editions of the FBC reference ASCE7-10 for the design of wind loads. Due to the significant number of organizational and technical changes to ASCE 7-10, many changes were made to the FBC, Building (FBCB) and the Residential (FBCR) codes. This course will address those significant changes.

Advanced FBC: The ABC’s of the New ADA & the FACBC

2 LU Hours (2HSW)

This ABC course addresses the specific requirements of the updated FACBC and the 2010 ADA Standards. It will instruct attendants in the requirements for: the accessible route, accessible parking requirements, and the issue of Florida’s specific requirements regarding vertical accessibility, providing accessible toilet rooms, bathrooms and toilet stalls. Updates as to where the Federal Access Board and the Dept. of Justice are with their requirements for accessibility.

Advanced FBC: WATER INTRUSION ISSUES WITH EXTERIOR WALLS

The interplay between Mother Nature the code and the law

2 LU Hours     (2 HSW)

This Advanced Building Code course addresses specific requirements of the Florida Building Code as they relate to the design and performance requirements for exterior walls of veneer construction.  Upon completion of the course, design professionals will have a better understanding of specific requirements for the design and construction of effective weather resistant exterior veneer walls and be able to apply the is knowledge to their current projects and/or review of the drawings and/or construction of the work.
