Join us for a presentation on small and tiny houses! Mary Alford, P.E, LEED®AP will discuss some of the advantages and challenges for both individuals and cities. We will also welcome a local city building official to join the discussion and give us a local perspective. We’re looking forward to an open conversation; attendees are encouraged to brainstorm ideas and questions to get involved in the discussion!

Lunch provided by:

Topics covered for individuals:

·         Do I want a small house or a tiny house?

·         What can I legally build?

·         Can I put this on my property, or where can I put it?

·         Co-housing, pocket neighborhoods, off grid, what are my options?

Topics covered for city officials:

·         Why would we want to allow tiny homes?

·         Why (and where) would we want to allow accessory dwelling units?

·         What is the smallest square footage that can be built by code?

·         What are pocket neighborhoods and where should they go?

·         What is co-housing and how is it different from pocket neighborhoods?

·         Trailer parks and trailer parks of the future: why good design matters.
