Understanding the Benefits of

Cellular PVC Rails, Pergolas and Gutters

This course will offer a basic understanding of the benefits of specifying cellular PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) railing systems, pergolas and gutters for residential construction projects. These systems in residential and commercial construction and remodeling are both decorative and functional however options have been historically limited to architects. Traditional materials like wood, vinyl, and composite materials have been the standard choices available for years, but these materials pose several challenges in aesthetics, durability, affordability, and limited design options. Today these systems can be created using cellular PVC which offers many advantages over traditional materials.

Learning Objectives:
•Describe the basic manufacturing and rating criteria of railing, pergola, and gutter systems
•List the specific benefits and advantages of cellular PVC in railing systems
•Explain the challenges and solutions to long spans in pergola and residential railing systems
•Discuss how selecting the right railing manufacturer can reduce costs, shorten installation times, and increase design options
